As Middle East crisis worsens, Oxfam calls for urgent de-escalation and respect for international law.

“The latest brutal war in the Middle East is having catastrophic impacts upon people across the region, including Palestinians in Gaza. Border crossing closures have restricted humanitarian movements, and medical evacuations have been suspended. Some families now have as little as two litres of drinking water per day. The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains critical. The UK government must exert all available pressure on Israel to end its illegal occupation and near-total blockade. All crossings must be open for the movement of people, humanitarian assistance, and goods.”

The UK government must take no part in military action – either directly or indirectly - that risks further death and destruction across the Middle East. It must urgently work with others to uphold international law, de-escalate and push for diplomatic solutions.”
