Responding to the Foreign Secretary’s ministerial statement on Israel and the Palestinian Territory, Dr Halima Begum, Oxfam GB Chief Executive said:

“We welcome that the UK government has started to publicly condemn the Israeli government for the horrors it has inflicted on Palestinians over the last 19 months. Suspending the trade negotiations is a positive step forward but without bolder action this will have little impact.

“Without suspending parts for Israeli F-35 fighter jets, the UK Government remains complicit in the deaths of thousands of civilians across Gaza. Any further delays will literally mean the difference between life and death for countless Palestinians and could jeopardise the safe release of hostages.

“People - including thousands of children - are starving in Gaza while Israel commits the war crime of using starvation as a weapon of war.  The Foreign Secretary should now suspend all arms exports to Israel.”
