Responding to Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, a spokesperson for Oxfam said:

“The Prime Minister cannot claim to have an ethical foreign policy when his Government is rolling out the red carpet for the Israeli President Isaac Herzog, someone that has backed military operations in Gaza, which have killed over 64 000 Palestinians. In the West Bank, Israel continues its campaign of illegal occupation, forcibly displacing, killing, and detaining Palestinians.

“The UK Government must not normalise this slaughter. Appeals for restraint and reason are not enough. It must halt all arms sales and military assistance to Israel, and work for an immediate and permanent ceasefire. Only then can the death and suffering end.”
