Reacting to the Government’s application to continue to licence arms sales to Saudi Arabia whilst it appeals to the Supreme Court, Ruth Tanner Oxfam’s Head of Humanitarian Policy said:

“It’s extremely disappointing that the Government is seeking to overturn a ruling that would protect civilians and that specifically cited evidence of British bombs being used in a Saudi airstrike on a hospital.

“Estimates put the number of people killed in the conflict so far in the tens of thousands. Many people also face disease and hunger because of the war.

“The millions of Yemenis who’ve already lived through more than four years of death and destruction desperately need the UK to stop selling arms to Saudi Arabia for use in Yemen.”
