REACTION: Joint statement from the UK and 24 other countries calling for an immediate end to the war in Gaza

An Oxfam spokesperson said:

“We welcome this long overdue call for an immediate end to the war in Gaza. The recognition that civilian suffering has reached inhumane levels must now be matched with urgent action to end it - starting with the suspension of all UK arms exports to Israel. Otherwise, the Government will be judged by history on its efforts to achieve peace.”

“A permanent ceasefire is the only way to end the death and suffering, and to pave the way for a sustainable peace for Palestinians and Israelis. Aid must be allowed to flow freely. Hostages and detainees taken by both sides must be freed.“
