Thank you for coming to the Make Them Pay march

What a day, what a group of energetic people, what a single voice we were to Government – Make Them Pay!

On 20th September 2025 Oxfam joined with hundreds of other organisation to march in London shouting Make Rich Polluters Pay.

Thank you for coming - The UK government can make better choices, starting with tax on extreme wealth to move us towards a fairer and greener future for everyone.

The super-rich and the biggest polluters must foot the bill – It’s time to Make Them Pay.

Governments can fight inequality and climate change by taxing extreme wealth - building a fairer, safer, more caring world.

Tackling inequality starts with making those at the top pay their fair share. This wealth tax is just an example of more taxes we need. If you want to pile on the pressure then sign our petition to the Chancellor Rachel Reeves calling for her to bring in a Wealth Tax Now!

Oxfam is part of the Make Them Pay Coalition - an alliance that represents millions of workers, citizens and communities across Britain. The coalition of more than 50 UK organisations has three key demands:

1. Tax the super-rich

The NHS is crumbling, schools are underfunded, energy bills keep rising – and billionaires keep getting richer. But politicians are choosing to balance the books on the backs of the poorest people. It’s time to tax the super-rich and use this money to fund the services we all depend on.

2. Protect workers, not billionaires

The economy should work for the people who keep the country running, not corporations and billionaires. Our government must prioritise creating decent, reliable jobs for everyone in every community, and supporting the renewable industries of the future, rather than preserving extreme wealth for a few at the top.

3. Make polluters pay

Half the world’s emissions come from a handful of fossil fuel companies. These companies have known about the danger they’re putting us all in for decades. The people who have made trillions knowingly destroying nature, and putting our futures at risk, must foot the bill for cleaning up the mess they’ve created.
