Red Line for Gaza
Day after day we have watched the horrors in Gaza unfold on our screens as red line after red line is crossed by the Israeli government. Let’s demand our government takes action to stop this and end their complicity.

What is the Red Line for Gaza campaign?
Day after day we have watched the horrors in Gaza unfold as red line after red line is crossed by the Israeli government.
We can't keep watching as Palestinian people are dehumanised. As children are killed. As people seeking food, water or safety are met with violence. What we’re witnessing is the systematic destruction of a people’s ability to live, to hope, to exist.
Red Line for Gaza is a campaign inspired by symbolic ‘red line’ protests around the world.
The UK campaign is coordinated by Oxfam GB, War Child UK and many others – it’s about using our collective voices to call for an end to the UK government’s complicity.
What are the Red Lines?
A red line is a limit that should never be crossed. In the case of the Red Line for Gaza campaign, it means breaches of international law. Using starvation as a weapon of war, killing civilians seeking safety, killing children and the hungry, targeting medics and care givers. These, and many more, are red lines the Israeli government continues to cross.
Which organisations are involved?
ActionAid UK, All We Can, CAFOD, Choose Love, Christian Aid, Doctors of the World (Médecins du Monde UK), Islamic Relief, Greenpeace, Humanity and Inclusion, Mothers’ Manifesto, Na'amod, Oxfam, Quakers in Britain, War Child, Women for Women International, and more.
What about the ceasefire?
The ceasefire is a vital first step towards ending Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
However, it remains a fragile agreement as Israeli forces continue to attack Palestinians and impose crippling restrictions that make it nearly impossible to deliver enough life-saving assistance to people in Gaza. Palestinians are still facing violence and famine. They still urgently need food, water, shelter, safety and medicine.
Why are we saying the UK government is complicit?
The UK government is complicit in enabling the Israeli government’s crimes – by its continued military, economic and diplomatic support. Strong words, without meaningful action, are not enough.
- The UK continues to allow arms sales to Israel, including parts for deadly F-35 fighter jets that are used to drop bombs on Palestinian civilians. You can read more about UK arms sales to Israel here.
- The UK also produces components for Israeli drones, provides military intelligence from spy flights over Gaza, and trains Israeli military personnel in Britain.
- Additionally, the UK continues to trade with Israel preferentially as if nothing is wrong.
This complicity must end.
What should the UK government be doing?
What’s needed now is not more words, but real action. The UK government should be using its influence to press for change with real consequences for the Israeli government.
Recognising a Palestinian state is a step forward, but it must be followed by meaningful action that ensures the fulfilment of rights of all Palestinians across occupied territory as well as those in Israel.
That must include:
- urgent pressure for a permanent ceasefire
- urgent pressure for unconditional, safe humanitarian access so aid can reach people in desperate need
- supporting Palestinian-led humanitarian relief and reconstruction of Gaza
- ending all arms sales and military support to Israel
What needs to happen next?
All parties must be held to account for violations of international law committed during this conflict, including war crimes and genocide.
However, true justice and lasting peace will not be possible without addressing the root cause of this conflict – Israel’s ongoing oppression of Palestinians.
- There must be an end to the blockade of Gaza.
- There must be an end to the decades-long occupation of Palestinian territory – Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The International Court of Justice has ruled Israel’s ongoing occupation as illegal.
- All Palestinians must have full access to equal civil and political rights - to live in freedom, with dignity, and self-determination.
What does it mean to act in solidarity with Palestinians?
This means joining together and recognising our common humanity. We all deserve to have access to our basic human rights.
Our collective wellbeing and humanity lies in our ability to support each other, speak out against the injustices we see, and work towards a fairer world for us all.
How can I get involved?
By joining the Red Line for Gaza, we will be in touch with ways you can support the campaign and take action in your community.
We will also be able to demonstrate how many people from all across the UK care about this issue, and put more pressure on decision makers to take action.
The louder we raise our collective voice, the harder we are to ignore.
