Let's tax private jets and superyachts

  • Urgent action is needed to tackle the climate crisis
  • Those who pollute the most - and who can afford it the most – must pay the most
  • The private jets and superyachts of the super-rich are some of the most polluting ways to travel, yet they are not taxed fairly

Momentum’s building, let’s push harder

Thanks to your support, we’ve shone a light on the unfairness of private jets, the most polluting way to travel, used by the wealthy elite.

Scotland’s First Minister has now called a Scottish private jet tax a “welcome suggestion” and says he’s “very sympathetic” to the idea. That shows we’re moving in the right direction.

At UK level, the Chancellor has also slightly increased the tax paid by private jet passengers, but not yet by nearly enough. Small steps and vague statements of sympathy won’t meaningfully cut emissions nor fairly make those who use private jets pay for their damage. That’s why we’ll keep pushing.

Ahead of the May 2026 Scottish election, we’re calling on all party leaders in Scotland to commit to a strong private jet tax in their manifesto, and to wider policies that will make Scotland fairer and greener for everyone.

Take our new action: Email Scotland’s party leaders now and demand they commit to a fairer, greener future.

Together we’ve got this campaign off the ground. Now let’s land the change Scotland needs.
