Volunteer Driver

Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? We’re seeking friendly and reliable individuals aged 18 or over to join our team of volunteers. No experience? No problem! We provide full training to ensure you feel confident in your role.

If you have a valid driving license and access to a vehicle, you can make an even greater impact by becoming a volunteer driver. Our drivers play a crucial role in collecting and transporting donations between homes, businesses, and Oxfam shops. This flexible role is perfect for those who enjoy being on the move, meeting new people, and making a tangible difference.

Whether you're looking to gain work experience, meet new people, or stay active, volunteering with us is a fantastic opportunity. By helping to collect and deliver donations, you'll be raising essential funds for Oxfam while connecting with incredible people along the way. Come be a part of something special—your time and effort can change lives!

What you will be doing

  • Driving your own, or hired, vehicles
  • Scheduling and collecting donations from individuals, businesses and donation banks
  • Delivering donations to shops, and sold items to customers
  • Speaking with donors and colleagues and providing great customer service
  • Loading and unloading bags and boxes from the vehicle

This role may include occasionally lifting boxes. We prioritise a safe working environment and provide comprehensive health and safety training to all volunteers.

We encourage our shop volunteers to develop an understanding of all aspects of the shop's work so that they can support the whole team as necessary.

The skills you need

You do not need specific skills or experience, but the following will be useful:

  • Commitment to Oxfam's values of empowerment, accountability and inclusiveness
  • Ability to work within Oxfam's policies and shop guidelines
  • We ask that you are reliable and on time for your volunteering
  • Full training and support is given for this role - no prior experience is required
  • Happy to be part of a team and collaborate effectively with others
  • A valid full UK Drivers Licence
  • Willing to have an annual DVLA Licence check
  • Relevant insurance for driving your own, or hire vehicles

What's in it for you?

  • You will be joining thousands of volunteers who "won't live with poverty"
  • Some lunch and travel costs paid (speak to the Manager first to understand what is covered)
