Emergency Response Partners

Emergency Response Partners

When an emergency hits, Oxfam is ready. Our emergency partners help make it possible for us to respond immediately, reaching more people and making the difference between life and death during a humanitarian disaster.

Whether it's PayPal's response to the 2010 Haiti Earthquake or Innocent Drink's action over Nepal, our network of emergency partners help us respond to disasters and also provides your customers with a simple and efficient way to channel their desire to help.

At any one time, Oxfam is responding to 25 emergencies worldwide. Here are some of the ways your company could get involved:

  • Donate to our disaster fund before a crisis occurs
  • Publicise current appeals to your customer by putting display banners on your website or by running fundraising campaigns
  • Provide gifts in kind such as Unilever giving 10,000s of bars of antibacterial soap to help with the Philippines disaster relief response, or Yale donating a forklift truck for our humanitarian warehouse

91% of consumers have a more favourable impression of companies involved in disaster recovery.

Partnerships in action

Esline Belcombe. President of water committee and beneficiary of grant for business, Haiti.

PayPal supported Oxfam's emergency response to Haiti Earthquake by emailing 5.6 million customers. The email had the highest open rate of any email that year, generated £910,000 in 48 hours and 'unlocked' 39,000 previously lapsed PayPal customers.

In November 2015 just two days after the terrible earthquake in Nepal, Airbnb launched a global fundraising campaign to support Oxfam's response. The campaign was translated into 50 different languages and raised over $125,000 from 2,500 customer donations.
