The 2026 Senedd election is a chance to demand bold action for a fairer, greener, more caring Cymru. Together, we’ve called on Cymru’s Party Leaders to commit to using those powers available to the Senedd to help deliver faster, fairer progress, whilst pushing the UK Government to do far more for Cymru.

Wales is at a political crossroads. As someone who supports Oxfam Cymru’s vision for a fairer, caring, greener country, I’m asking you to show real leadership and commit to building a Cymru where everyone can thrive as we approach the next Senedd election in May 2026 

Too many people are struggling to get by while a small number have far more than they need. Nearly one in five people, including over a third of our children, are living without enough. The cost of living has gone from being a crisis to the new normal. At the same time, the devastating consequences of the climate crisis are increasingly visible here in Cymru and across the globe. 

We need bold and ambitious action. I’m calling on you to commit to: 

Economic Justice, Climate Justice, Social Justice and Global Justice 

A Vision for a Just Cymru (https://wales.oxfam.org.uk/publications/vision-for-a-just-cymru/) outlines urgent actions needed to create a fairer Wales, including:  

A national anti-poverty strategy with statutory child poverty targets that tackle the root causes of inequality  

Investment in a caring economy, with reformed and properly funded social care and childcare systems  

A just transition to a green and caring economy that puts the wellbeing of people and the planet at its core  

A globally responsible and peace-building Wales, leading by example through ethical trade, fair procurement, and global solidarity grounded in human rights 

This is about the kind of Cymru we want to be: a country where everyone has enough to live on, a warm home and stronger public services. A Cymru that keeps our climate promises while standing with those in poverty and crisis internationally. 

Please show the leadership Cymru needs – now and throughout the next Senedd – and commit to maximising the use of the Senedd’s powers to deliver bold, fair action on poverty and the climate, at home and abroad.  

Let’s seize this moment and build a Cymru that works for all of us.

Mae Cymru ar groesffordd wleidyddol. Fel rhywun sy'n cefnogi gweledigaeth Oxfam Cymru am wlad decach, fwy gofalgar a mwy gwyrdd, rwy'n gofyn i chi ddangos arweinyddiaeth trwy ymrwymo i adeiladu Cymru lle gall pawb ffynnu, wrth i ni agosáu at etholiad nesaf y Senedd ym mis Mai 2026.

Mae hyn yn ymwneud â'r math o Gymru yr ydym am fod: gwlad lle mae gan bawb ddigon i fyw arno, cartref cynnes a gwasanaethau cyhoeddus cryfach. Cymru sy'n cadw at ein haddewidion hinsawdd wrth sefyll gyda'r sawl sydd mewn tlodi ac argyfwng yn rhyngwladol.  

Dangoswch yr arweinyddiaeth sydd ei hangen ar Gymru - nawr a thrwy gydol y Senedd nesaf - ac ymrwymwch i wneud y defnydd mwyaf o bwerau'r Senedd i gyflawni camau gweithredu blaengar a theg ar dlodi a'r hinsawdd, gartref a thramor.
