Jorden Teunissen ran the whole 26.2 miles of the London Marathon last weekend in a pair of traditional clogs.

If you’ve been around the Brighton seafront lately you may have heard the click-clack of Jorden Teunissen while he’s been training – in clogs. He trained and ran the London Marathon in a pair of traditional clogs from his native Netherlands. Starting as a festival volunteer for Oxfam, Jorden continues to be involved with the charity. Then, in 2023 he fundraised for Oxfam with his first ever marathon. He also ran then in clogs, in a time of 7 hours 8 minutes. He then beat his own Guinness World Record with a new time of 6 hours 27 minutes. Jorden was one of 38 people who successfully achieved a Guinness World Record at the marathon.

An amazing 59,830 runners crossed the finish line this week, of these there are a team of 53 were running for Oxfam. We are still taking donations but have raised an amazing £112,000!

Jorden Teunissen commented:

“When I was volunteering with Oxfam at the London Marathon cheering points, I watched runners attempting world records pass by carrying things like washing machines or wearing full firefighter gear. Fellow volunteers had given me the nickname ‘Cloggie’ because of my Dutch background, and suddenly the idea of running in clogs did not seem so strange after all. With encouragement from the Oxfam community, I gave it a try and ended up setting the record.

While volunteering with Oxfam at festivals I met many inspiring people who care deeply about making the world fairer. That experience motivated me to support their work and use this marathon as a way to raise awareness.”
