Oxfam names Jean McLean Chief Influencing Officer
Published on
Oxfam has appointed Jean McLean as its new Chief Influencing Officer, bringing in a seasoned global advocate to lead the organisation’s strategy for tackling the root causes of poverty and driving a shift toward locally led development, stronger national civil society, and global solidarity to address injustice worldwide.
“Jean brings a rare combination of strategic clarity, global experience and deep commitment to justice. At a time when need is growing, she will help lead Oxfam GB and the wider confederation in balancing influencing, advocacy and movement-building, while retaining Oxfam’s unique expertise in safe programming working in partnership with communities around the world.”
Joyce Idoniboye, Oxfam GB acting Chief Executive
“I’m thrilled to be stepping into this role at such a pivotal moment. Oxfam holds a unique place in public and political life because it has consistently shown the courage to question and challenge power in pursuit of a fairer, more equal world. Today, as rights are rolled back, International Humanitarian Law is undermined, and the far-right gains ground around the world, that courage is needed more than ever. Oxfam’s impact is undeniable and a reminder that meaningful change is still possible. The dedication of its people – from retail teams to communities around the world, and supporters across the country – reflects our shared responsibility to one another and the power of what connects us.”
