Reacting to the Appeal Court’s decision to allow the Government to appeal to the Supreme Court over its ruling that arms sales to Saudi Arabia were unlawful, Ruth Tanner Oxfam’s Head of Humanitarian Policy said:

“Its good news that the Appeal Court has refused the Government’s application to continue doing new arms deals with Saudi Arabia. But the Government’s unwillingness to accept the Appeal Court’s ruling is disappointing.

“British arms are helping to fuel one of the world’s gravest humanitarian crises that has already killed tens of thousands of people and left millions more hungry and homeless.

“After more than four years of conflict, its time the UK government put the lives of Yemenis ahead of the arms trade, and immediately stopped the sale of arms to Saudi Arabia for use in Yemen.”
