Reaction to legal opinion on Government aid cuts

Responding to today's news in the Sunday Times that Lord Macdonald has given a legal opinion that the Government's decision to cut overseas aid is unlawful, Oxfam GB's Chief Executive Danny Sriskandarajah said:

"Cutting aid to the world's poorest people in the middle of a pandemic will cost lives. The decision was clearly immoral, now it appears to have been unlawful as well.

"This legal opinion offers the Government the chance to think again, do the right thing and keep our promises to provide medicines, food and shelter to those who desperately need it."
