Dr Halima Begum, CEO

Halima is CEO of Oxfam GB. Much of her career has been spent working in international development with DFID (now the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office), the British Council and LEGO Foundation, with extended overseas postings to countries including China, Nepal, Indonesia and Pakistan. Halima was CEO at Runnymede Trust, and before joining Oxfam, she was CEO at ActionAid UK.

Halima has headed major civil society, research and policy programmes in various fields, among them education, gender equality, poverty reduction, human rights, food insecurity, public health and post-conflict reconstruction, and is a well-known thought leader on civil rights and equalities.

She serves on the board of Demos, and is a member of both ITV and Burberry’s Cultural Advisory Councils. Halima is also a recent serving member of the board of the National Council for Civil Liberties (Liberty) and the IPPR Commission on Health and Prosperity, as well as an expert advisor to Cambridge University and the Institute for Government's Review of the UK Constitution.

Born in Bangladesh and raised in London’s East End, she has been identified as one of the most influential disabled people in the UK, and one of the most influential British South Asians.

Alison Court, Chief Transformation Officer

Alison has over 15 years of senior executive experience in transformation and technology in a variety of roles spanning commercial, public and not-for profit sectors.

Alison’s skills and experience are in designing and delivering complex transformation for organisations. She has held strategic leadership, programme, project and operational roles for the Cabinet Office, Oxford Brookes University and the Open University amongst others.

She joined Oxfam GB in 2020, in what was a new role responsible for driving the implementation of our new strategic vision. Later that year her role expanded to incorporate the global operations of Oxfam GB and she was appointed Chief Transformation Officer.

Alison is an Independent Governor of De Montfort University.

Joyce Idoniboye, Chief People Officer

Joyce Idoniboye is a dynamic and visionary HR leader whose career spans over two decades of transformational people leadership across global industries – from media and publishing to real estate and international development.

As Chief People Officer, Joyce leads the HR function, where she is redefining what it means to centre people, purpose, and performance in service of a just world without poverty.

Her impact at Oxfam builds on a career marked by progressive leadership roles at globally recognised organisations, including DDB (Omnicom Group), CBRE, HarperCollins Publishers, Pearson, News UK, and Charles Russell LLP.

At DDB, Joyce served as Chief People Officer for EMEA, leading DE&I strategy across a complex international network and championing data-driven approaches to culture and engagement.

Jan joined in 2021, bringing leadership experience with organisations such as Greenpeace and Save the Children and a skillset including fundraising, market research and brand development.

Sonya, who has more than 25 years’ experience working in international development, said:

“I have built my career through work and postings across East Asia, South Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa, and am looking forward to using my experience to drive Oxfam’s mission.

"I have helped design and implement national poverty reduction and social protection programmes. I’ve supported social inclusion policy reforms in countries ranging from Bangladesh and Afghanistan to Ghana, Zambia, Ethiopia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.

"I also hold a PhD in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge, and have held roles at BRAC Bangladesh, the UK Department for International Development and the World Bank, where I most recently served as the Global Lead for Social Inclusion”.

Huric Tang, Chief Financial Officer

Huric has extensive global experience leading finance teams and driving strategic initiatives in the commercial and not-for-profit sectors.

During his time (2017-2020) at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Huric led transformation projects for NGOs within the Social Impact practice area. He brings diversified expertise spanning across treasury, operations, financial planning and analysis, statutory reporting, and risk management.

Huric holds a First-Class Honours Bachelor of Accountancy (BAcc) from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and an MBA from the University of Cambridge. He is a member of Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW), a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM), and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
