We are all climate witnesses

The climate witness video series invites people across the world to share the experiences that made them realise the climate crisis is on their doorstep.

We are all witnesses to climate breakdown

Watching as the world crumbles under the weight of climate change and injustice.

We are all witnesses to climate chaos

But we are not all experiencing it equally. People living in poverty are experiencing the worst effects right now.

We are all witnesses to a dying planet

But we are not all equally responsible. The richest 1% emit as much planet-heating pollution as two-thirds of humanity.

We are all climate witnesses. Now it’s time to act

The climate witness video series invites people across the world to share the experiences that made them realise the climate crisis is on their doorstep. The moments that made them a climate witness. The stories behind the photos and headlines. The feelings that made them want to take action.

We'd like to highlight more climate witness stories. To share your own experiences, please contact us by email: campaigning@oxfam.org.uk

What did Daud witness?

Daud Kayisi is Media and Communications Manager at Oxfam in Southern Africa. He has witnessed climate change encroaching on his life and work.

In my line of work, I get an opportunity to get firsthand information of the people impacted by climate shocks. I have taken it upon myself to support them tell their own story so that their voices are heard. I hope my work can act as a channel to help amplify voices of the impacted who are mostly muted by being in hard-to-reach areas or lack of a platform through which their can share their stories.

Remote areas in Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique are the places I want to frequent the most because men, women, girls and boys staying in these places are paying the steepest price to climate shocks and yet their voices many times are not heard.
