Trade with illegal Israeli settlements is a red line

Palestinians in the occupied West Bank are facing systemic and widespread violence at the hands of the Israeli military and settlers, and increasingly having their land violently stolen, their homes demolished, and their olive groves and farms destroyed.

Israeli citizens occupy these lands, creating illegal settlements which fragment the land and displace Palestinian communities. These settlements play a major role in Israel’s ongoing occupation of Palestine.

Many companies operate in these illegal settlements, extracting huge wealth from stolen land and resources. They profit at the expense of Palestinian people’s rights, dignity, and lives. This has driven long-term economic devastation for Palestinian families and communities, and entrenched Palestinians into widespread poverty.

Trade with Israeli settlements is incompatible with international law. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has made this clear. Yet the UK Government has failed to ban it.

It is time for our government to end its complicity in the oppression and violence against Palestinians. This means complying with international law and ending all UK settlement trade - including goods and services.

There is momentum building in Parliament. This is a real opportunity to achieve change. We need to call loudly for accountability, justice and peace. Now is the time to fight for a fair and just future for Palestine.

Your MP has been elected to represent the views of all their constituents – even those who didn’t vote for them. They are accountable to you. It’s really important that they hear from you on the issues that matter to you. Building this relationship is a powerful way to encourage your MP to raise issues in Parliament, and push the government to take action.
